Augustus Means
Augustus served as President of the Topsfield Fair from 1957-1960. In his 4 years of presidency, he made significant additions and improvements to the various aspects of the fairgrounds. Including the establishment of Coolidge Hall named after William A. Coolidge, Cattlemen’s exhibition, shower room for the Cattle department, Poultry/Rabbit building, a new bathroom facility, improvements to the Fruit & Vegetable building, and additional improvements for aesthetic purposes like plants, etc. Along with his various physical contributions, he also created a program to recognize people who have distinguished themselves in agriculture with ribbons and medals. His efforts brought many great attractions to the fair, including The Philadelphia Ferko String Band, and Carl Moore.
