Sand Sculptures
Sand Sculpture demonstrations have been an exciting feature at the Topsfield Fair since the 1990’s. They bring in 50 tons of sand to build the Topsfield Fair’s sand sculpture each year. For several years the Topsfield Fair has been host to one of New England’s renowned sand sculptors, Justin Gordon. Gordon has been sculpting in many mediums for thirty years. He brings the whimsical, mixing it with the fantastic, and throws in the real themes of the Fair. Every year we look forward to his creation, of which the end result is always a surprise to us. He has incorporated our sponsors, our history, our staff, and our farm animals, making a one of a kind sand sculpture that we all enjoy. Gordon starts with thirty to sixty tons of sand and builds a castle-like structure, with all of the wonderful intricacies of his imagination. They have been a way to promote our theme and expose our fair-goers to the art of sandcastle making. Every year is different.
