Kurt Schmakel

Kurt Schmakel has been working for the Topsfield Fair in the Maintenance Department for 31 years, and he is currently the Maintenance Department Supervisor. At a young age he was involved in the Fair volunteering to help clean the chicken coops in the Poultry Barn because his father was a part of the Poultry Department. When we was 21 he started working in the Maintenance Department and eventually became Assistant Manager. By 26 he earned the Superintendent Position. After returning from taking time off to go to school, he became the Maintenance Department Supervisor. While working under 3 General Managers, Kurt has made immense improvements on Fairground with his eye for detail and continues to improve the Topsfield Fair year after year.
