Charles Houghton
Charles Houghton was an avid hunter and country music fan, but was best known for his giant pumpkins. Houghton was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the grower of the worlds largest pumpkin, with his winning 1337 lb. pumpkin at the Topsfield Fair in 2002. He was a member of the New Hampshire and New England Giant Pumpkin Growers Associations, the Moose Club of Hillsborough, and the Hillsborough County Law Enforcement Association. Houghton was employed as a carpenter and owner of Houghton Builders of New Boston but passed away in 2003 at age 62 after a long battle with cancer.
