1841
Beekeeping and Honey show made its debut at the 1841 Fair!
The Beekeeping & Honey Show at the Fair has grown into the largest at any fair in North America, and has been run by the Essex County Beekeepers Association since 1928. Competitors enter their best hives and beekeeping exhibits as well as foods and drinks made with honey (like mead, beer, and liqueurs), baked goods, barbecue sauces, and candy.
Fairgoers not only get to see the bees in action and check out the honey competition when they visit the Beekeeping building, they also get to take home their fill of the delicious, locally produced, Essex County honey products that beekeepers offer for sale.
